Caboose News

Another major step completed in the preservation of Caboose C3855. Thanks to Pajer Pro Painting the painting of the interior is complete!

LEAVITT ROAD LORAIN, OHIO

so what's the big deal?

A caboose? What are you going to do with it? This caboose represents a piece of Lorain’s railroad history. The location where the caboose will reside was once  a thriving Baltimore & Ohio Railroad rail yard that saw millions of tons of coal outbound and iron ore and taconite inbound passethrough to and from ships. This caboose actually serviced the City of Lorain on CSX Transprtation trains.. When restoration is complete,  caboose #3855 is not going to be just another pretty face. It will be used in conjunction with many civic and educational programs and activities. Welcome home #3855!

The restoration and preservation of Lorain’s Caboose C-3855 is a project of
The Lorain Growth Corporation / Tourism/Caboose Committe.
